Louis Comfort Tiffany
Louis Comfort Tiffany, New York painter and glass artist, counts among America's most significant Art Deco creators. The son of Charles Lewis Tiffany, New York jeweller and owner of Tiffany & Co, became famous through his fantastic bijoux collections and lustre-style glass objects. He incorporated his own company "Tiffany Studios" in 1885, with the production of flat special coloured glass for mosaics and windows.
The world-famous Tiffany lamps continue to be precious collector's objects until today. Their lamp shades consist of copper-foiled pieces of coloured glass, welted together in that very special Tiffany technique.
